What’s Happening This Week!

COMMUNION:  Holy Communion will be shared this Sunday, August 1st during the morning worship service.

Do you want to impact today’s teenagers? Afraid that you aren’t “cool” enough, or that you don’t possess the right skills, or that the generation gap is too large?  The DMC Youth Ministry is looking for a few adults who would be willing to help out with the weekly meetings on Sunday evenings.  Your responsibility would be to get to know the youth and lead a prescripted discussion.  Interested?  Talk to Pastor Brent.  Age doesn’t make a difference…only the desire to minister.

PASTORAL PRAYER:  There is a one month sign up sheet on the literature table to pray for Pastor Dennis and Youth Pastor Brent.
 
CHURCH DAY AT THE ZOO:  This Sunday, August 1st at 1:00pm is church day at the zoo.   Bring a picnic lunch for your family and then also enjoy the zoo after lunch.  

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME:  This is an all church event on Sunday afternoon, August 22nd  to the Fort Wayne Tin Caps.   Game time is 3:05pm and tickets will be $8.00.    Everyone is welcome so come on out to the ballgame with your Dunfee family!!! Please sign up on the literature table by Sunday August 8th so that ticket can be ordered.

STROKE PREVENTION SCREENING:  South Whitley United Methodist Church is holding a Life Line Screening on Wednesday, August 11.   If you would like more information, please pick up a pink flyer from the literature table.  Pre-registration is required with the phone number on the pink flyer.

NURSERY WORKERS still NEEDED:  If anyone would like to volunteer to be a nursery worker during Sunday School or the Worship Service please let Lacy Salsbury know.  Also, please let Lacy know if you want to stay on the current schedule.    A substitute list is also being made and if you would like to help in the nursery but only as a sub, please see Lacy as well.

LIBRARY CORNER:  “The Penny” by Joyce Meyer and Deborah Bedford is our featured book this week and can be checked out from the literature table.   Jenny Blake has no idea how her life will change in the summer of 1955.   But the day she stoops to pick up a penny embedded in the hot asphalt, she starts a chain of events that will transform her life and the lives of those around her in amazing ways.   Jenny is swept into a friendship with Miss Shaw, the woman whose past is the biggest mystery along Grand Avenue, the woman who will change Jenny’s future.   As Jenny and Miss Shaw work together at the local jewelry store, they form a friendship that dares both of them to confront secrets in their pasts—secrets that threaten to destroy them.
