Proverbs 5:1-7. Continuing the theme of wisdom for this summer, today we look at one of the great downfalls of our current society. That downfall is the proliferation of sexual impurity. This particular sin occurs whenever a person strays from God’s commands regarding the proper context for sexual relations. That context is, of course, between a husband and wife. All other contexts result in poverty, loss of self respect, loss of reputation, disease, remorse, malice, and/or regret.
Listen today as Pastor Rowe names and answers four (4) common questions regarding sexual purity.

Proverbs 1:1-7. What is wisdom? Wisdom is a person’s skill in living. How does a person gain wisdom? Is it simply through life experience or by having an elder pass on a kernel of knowledge that expands our understanding of something? These can both be sources of human wisdom, but true wisdom (that is, the kind that comes from God our Father) is readily available in the book of Proverbs. Today we begin a summer study of the book of Proverbs and the vast amount of wisdom contained in it. The great thing is that Proverbs can instill wisdom in anybody, from the smallest of children to the oldest and wisest persons you know.

Joshua 24:31. Today Max draws some striking similarities between the establishment of Israel’s claim on the promised land and the birth of the United States. Thirteen individual groups and militias along with a strong, God fearing leader are just the beginning

Joshua 24. This chapter contains perhaps the most famous verse in all of the book of Joshua: “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Through this and other verses in Joshua Chapter 24 we can learn some important facts about the commitment the Lord requires.

In Joshua 23, we find Joshua old and well advanced in years and he is giving some good advice to the younger generations. He reminds them of where they have come from; to give God the glory for His faithfulness; obey God’s word; to live a life different than the world with no compromise; and be totally committed to serving the Lord. Listen to how these truths can be applied to your life.

Today we see how the Israelites had a misunderstanding when the 2 1/2 tribes returned to their land east of the Jordan. We also see how they used biblical principles to seek truth and reconcile with each other. Come listen and let God’s word speak to you in dealing with relationships with those around you.

Joshua 21: 1-3,43-45. The gist of today’s sermon is that God provides for His followers. How do we know this? One easy way is to look at the verses that provide the foundation for today’s message. You will see three (3) basic points being made today:

Joshua 20,21. We are often fond of making bold statements about the depth of our faith, much like Peter stating that he would never deny Jesus. Often we fail to live up to our own statements, usually displaying a faith lacking in certainty. Fortunately, God gives us second chances and places of refuge. In Joshua’s day there were cities of refuge. These cities were safe havens for people who were in danger as a result of an accidental death. These cities were necessary at a time of the rule of the law of retribution.
While there must be justice in this world, there must also be mercy. These cities were (and are) a symbol of the mercy of God. God always gives second chances, and we are instructed to do the same! Do not judge but rather give mercy to others.

Romans 8:10-17. Are you adopted? This questions doesn’t mean a worldly sense of adoption. Instead this question is asking if you are adopted by Jesus Christ. Like a child is lovingly adopted by a parent and becomes “theirs”, we are adopted by Jesus when we accept Him as our savior. By having Jesus as our adopted Father we can feel loved and encouraged to do things we would otherwise be afraid to do. Things like pushing back against the fear of the unknown, pushing back against the fear of loss and failure, and pushing back against the fear of being rejected by others. With so many benefits (and this is a VERY short list), who wouldn’t want to be adopted?
